Exploring Svalbard in 2019 with Wild Focus Expeditions: What You Might Expect
A lot of people love to travel, but only a few are bold enough to explore remote destinations around the world. For those who dare break the norm of travel, Wild Focus Expeditions offers some of the most amazing exotic expeditions anyone could experience.
Svalbard is a dream. Located between continental Norway and the North Pole, this Norwegian archipelago is considered one of the world’s last wild and frozen frontiers, and it boasts of sceneries that make up the dream of photographers and travelers:
Go where the polar bears roam.
It’s not every day that you get to see a polar bear in its natural habitat, but if you’re lucky, you might get to capture the world’s biggest carnivore on camera. One of the main goals of Wild Focus’ exotic expeditions is to search for beautiful scenes. On board the M/S Freya, you will travel to either the northern or southern fjords to find polar bears and other wildlife.
Ride Svalbard’s mode of transportation.
You will hardly see any cars in Spitsbergen because it is covered in snow for most of the year and you will only find one major road on the island. So, how do you get from one place to another? You ride a snowmobile, of course. Flying across the snowy arctic landscape on a snowmobile is one of two options you must choose from during your first day in Svalbard. Once you quickly get the feel for it and become confident in your driving skills, the experienced Wild Focus Expeditions Team will take you on an adventure across the frozen tundra looking for wildlife and beautiful snowy landscapes for the day. Lunch will be served al fresco by an icy glacier.
Team Up with a Dog Team.
What is an Arctic expedition without trying dog sledding? Learning how to mush your own team of dogs is the second option to choose from as an activity on your first day in Svalbard with Wild Focus. You will learn how to harness your dogs, control the sled and give commands, and you will get to experience sledding on the beautiful Arctic landscape while looking for wildlife. Be on the lookout for the Arctic fox or the Svalbard reindeer and make sure to take photographs while admiring the beautiful scenery around you. This exotic expedition will also take you into an ice cave inside a glacier where you can enjoy magnificent ice formations that you cannot enjoy anywhere else.
Experience life on the Arctic waters.
Exotic expeditions in Svalbard will not be complete without boarding the M/S Freya. Built in 1981, the M/S Freya was a Swedish Coast Guard vessel with the highest ice class rating of 1A, and it has been refitted as a passenger ship and used in exploring Svalbard. The ship is fully equipped, making it the perfect vessel to explore fjords to search for wildlife. Its crew is also experienced in traversing the Arctic waters, so you can enjoy a great time on board knowing that you’re in good hands.
Travelling to Svalbard is, without a doubt, one of the best decisions that you’ll ever make in your lifetime. From spotting your first polar bear to experiencing life in the Arctic, these exotic expeditions have all the ingredients of a perfect adventure holiday.
With the help of Wild Focus Expeditions, you’ll get to immerse yourself in Svalbard, go on adventures with experienced guides and of course, take amazing photographs while you’re at it.
